Summary
  • For Bausch & Lomb’s Ocuvite brand, we designed a comprehensive mobile health app, available on iOS and Android, that turns eye health into a daily routine.
  • Built for a wide audience from people in their 30s to those over 60, it delivers an accessible experience with large fonts, high contrast and simplified navigation.
  • Since launch, more than 46,000 dry eye risk assessments have been completed, and 30-day user retention reached 63% (versus a category average of 25%).

Challenge

The target audience spanned a wide spectrum, from users in their 30s to those over 60. Finding a design language that felt both modern and accessible across these two extremes was critical. Striking the delicate balance between the simplicity of medical content and scientific credibility posed a significant challenge.

Solution

Following extensive discovery research conducted with eye health specialists and representatives of the target audience, we defined the app’s core feature set. A screen-time tracker, a dry eye risk assessment and a personalized supplement program became the three main pillars of the app. Large fonts, high-contrast options and simplified navigation ensured accessibility across the broad age range.

Results & Impact

Since launch, more than 46,000 users have completed the in-app dry eye risk assessment, providing Bausch+Lomb with valuable first-party health data. Users who enabled the daily supplement reminder showed an 87% engagement rate, while 30-day retention reached 63% — well above the 25% average for the health app category. The app was cited as a UX benchmark for the health field in Turkey’s leading pharmaceutical industry publications.
